All this talk about Summer

I'm thinking about having this done myself, though at the rate I'm dragging my feet it might be a project for next summer. In any case, I was leaning towards linen but I'll be following this thread closely to see what others recommend.

I wear a jacket (not with the kilt) every Sunday through the summer to Mass, no matter the heat. I'm a cantor at our parish and I just feel underdressed at the ambo chanting the psalm otherwise. I have a couple jackets I favor for summer wear. One is a lighter weight wool (which actually does me fine year round), but my favorite for summer is a light weight silk/wool blend. It's 55/45.

The heat did break here, it dropped to 94F. The trick is to think in centigrade, see, it's only 34. There, now you can wear a jacket.

On a more serious note, I do enjoy wearing a jacket with my kilt. At work, I wear clothes that are durable, safe, and will get dirty. On my farm, I wear the same. So when I take my betrothed out I like to put on my best. She is a fine looking woman, and I feel that I should look worthy. Thanks for the links, I will follow up on them.

I had these 2 jackets and waistcoats made in Bali recently. They are made from light summer weight wool and are as light as a feather. I have worn one back here in Australia and actually felt a bit cold, it's the middle of winter here.
As stated in another thread, they were A$90.00 each and fully tailored

I would love to have a linen, seersucker or silk bend kilt jacket. I think about it every spring.

I've played a lot of competitions in the Northwest where I made the same argument. I remember playing the Portland games-- standing on the blacktop-- it was 95 degrees and our chanters going sharper by the measure. And then when we went to the beer tent they weren't admitting any more people because it was full. Pure misery. Enumclaw was little better. Why not April? Or October?

Still not sure I can get my mind around a seersucker kilt though...

Agreed, even Loch Norman which is in April and it was in the 80s!!
