That's so cool!!
Wonderful to be able to see the maker's label, and know once and for all who made them.
Interesting that they have civilian tartan binding, not the grass-green binding which military kilts have. An oversight by the costumer, who evidently didn't know the differences between military and civilian kilts.
There is a Tunes of Glory Pipe Band here in the USA. They don't wear that tartan, however.

Scott Hunting Tartan
Thanks for the tip... I was under the impression it was a pattern they had made up specifically for the film. Lovely tartan.

A little off topic but, Tunes of Glory wears the Modern Hunting MacInnes tartan. Thanks for pluging my band, Richard.

The provenance is excellent. Jardine supplied the kilts to M. Berman, a theatrical costumer in London (Bermans did business as Berman & Nathan and as Angel & Berman). As is typical of "fitted costumes" the name of the actor (and sometimes the production) is on the M. Berman label.
No doubt about it, this kilt is from the movie TUNES OF GLORY.

I wasnt doubting the authenticity... Merely wondering where they were for the last 50 years... Some backlot storage room in a long forgotten studio? Cherished by the original wearer under glass 'til they kicked the proverbial and then lost for numerous years before being rediscovered?.. sometimes the story is as interesting as the item... Then again maybe not...

Twice in the last 10-15 years Bermans/Angels has sold off surplus costuming. In all likelihood these kilts were disposed of at that time.

Wouldn't it be awsome if you wore this kit?

It's a wonderful uniform! That tartan looks so good with the Battledress jackets, the TOS, and especially those London Scottish hair sporrans.

Makes you wonder what else might be tucked away there...

It would be.
Are the ankles taped in this pic with white tape or is that a stripe in the hose? Never saw that before.
