Aye, Jock perhaps a favorite watering hole?

As I am not a resident of Inverness itself and my visits are usually confined to trips to the fishing tackle/gun shop for "essential supplies" and a certain kilt makers shop a couple of doors away and on occasion the hospital, I really don't have a "watering hole" there. No doubt I can work on that in the next couple of months!

Do you know if they will be doing it again for next year?

I would be more able to do this as well, right now I guess any trips are taking a backseat to our upcoming wedding--go figure!

The trip is doing its very best to give you a good "taste" of what Scotland has to offer from South to North and from East to West. Well as you are lurking around Inverness for a couple of days maybe we might try and "bump" into each other Mael?

Jock I noticed in an earlier post you mentioned that you don't have a favorite watering hole in Inverness. Behind the castle there is a real ale pub, I believe it has Castle in the name, that is really grand. I had an evening to blow before the Inverness to London train in January and had a great time there. It is just up on a slight hill, and hard to miss. I made no effort to play the visitor, but a number of very nice folks introduced themselves and had some real nice conversations. The beer was very good as well and the barmaid was extremely knowledgeable about the beer. Just a suggestion for what it's worth. I had several people rave about Gellions before I visited and while it was fine, I wouldn't suggest it as memorable.

Thanks. It is great for a visitor to recommend a place as we locals often miss the obvious. Do you mean "the Castle Restaurant" by any chance, between Grahams(guns and fishing tackle) and Chisholms(kilt makers), right opposite the back of the castle?

Aye, Jock! I'm spending two nights in Inverness, WED-14 & TH-15. Staying at the Ramada on Church. Thursday evening looks more open but Wednesday will do, too!

We'll have been staying at Craignure for two nights before, sightseeing the area. On Thursday 22nd headed back to Glasgow for the flight back home the next day.
