    How about that leopard sporran?

    Rex.
I love those pictures...and the man. Just ordered an Argyll jacket like that inspired by that picture...

But what hat is that? It looks like a cross between flat cap and breton cap?

And the idea he was mocked in a kilt is laughable...he looked amazing.

Why would I? I'm of the opinion every man should have a beard or a moustache!

Well, short of enforcing it by closing down the razor blade factories, I go along with that sentiment.

This photo is interesting, showing a jacket with the bottom cut like an Argyll jacket, but with "shawl" collar

Photograph said to be of an officer of the 1st Battalion Maine Scottish Light Infantry, circa 1861, taken by George M. Howe, 112 Middle Street, Portland, Maine.

Re: Show us your Vintage Kilt Photos

So interesting! I'd not heard of a Maine Scottish regiment.

Here are two more vintage photos from named studios

    M Jackson, Perth

Interesting sporran, and I think the only photo of this period I've come across showing a checked shirt worn with kilt

    J Gillam, Brechen

And a Sergeant of the Gordon Highlanders, photographed in India I believe
