Re: Show us your ink
I want to get mine updated from a tribal flower (with an eye) to a Scottish thistle, maybe with some swirls.
Lower back. Yup, the "tramp stamp" was sort of a rite of passage for girls of my generation.

Let's do away with that term GGGP, since you are proof it doesn't apply in all cases.
Perhaps Vamp Stamp? Or, since the original term has fallen into the realm of absurd cliche...Camp Stamp? Or if your favorite hobby is launching marbles off your buttocks...Ramp Stamp?
Just brainstorming here.

Re: Show us your ink
I've got ink from my knees to my neck so it's hard to pick just one piece so for right now. Considering that I have been getting tattooed since 1986 when I go in to get more work done my artist is working on the available space thats left. I'll just go with my 2 latest pieces that I had done back in March.
The neck piece

And the ambigram of my daughter Tesa's name

Re: Show us your ink

I know these arent terribly exciting but I have always loved them. The one on the left, Saille, represents femininity and the one on the right, Ebhadh, represents the woodland realm. Gotta love the Ogham <3
sorry about the closeup of my veiny feet. Whatdoyado?

I like these... they remind me of the ones they found on Ötzi.

Maybe in a million years they will find my body somewhere in the ground and be like "WOAH! she has crazy Druid tattoos! what could it mean!?" Ive always thought of that.
Lol. In my bellydancing class, we balance these really heavy swords on our heads and, after a long time with them on our heads, they make these horozontal impressions in our scalp (of course they go away after a few minutes) but we were saying how its going to permenently stay on our heads one of these days and our bodies will be found a million years from now and they will think we were some crazy tribal women who ritually indented our skulls. haahha.
Yep, I almost thought you were specifically thinking of calling the iceman to mind with your tattoos, though they are ever so slightly different.
And speaking of becoming an item of archaeological interest, my friend, Crazy George, is forever on about- "Ryan, one day, hundreds or even thousands of years from now, there are going to be people studying your body, saying: 'This guy's from he 21st century, but check out all of these cuts in his bones; they're perfect for five hundred years earlier, but all wrong for his time period... swords just weren't used anymore, by then. Who was this guy?' Then you'll end up as a piece of evidence for some nutjob that's trying to prove that time travel is real."
But hey- Spend enough time around live blades, and you'll certainly get cut; if you don't, you're very possibly doing something wrong... granted, me and mine do train a bit harder (read more dangerously) than your average Joes, but I figure it's better to be prepared. An no one's lost an eye yet. Or a finger.

Re: Show us your ink
Mine is a little something I designed (mostly my own artwork). The words/phrase is "Quo Itinere Ibis?", which roughly translates as "Upon which path will you travel?"....I ended up contacting a professor of languages/Latin from BC, Canada for the translation, as I wanted "Old Latin" (which would've been recognizable in biblical times) for this design.
The lettering I based upon that found in the Gutenberg Bible (though I ended up changing a couple letter fonts to make it easier to read):

...on the inner arm is a drawing I did of a Christ/Satan mirror image. I won't go into the symbolism, as I don't want to be breaking any forum rules, or start a religious discussion that might go down the slippery slope towards thread closure....(the image was taken from my original design, and was not changed in any way by the tat artist):

...the one addition the tat artist did was the clouds of Heaven & the flames of Hell. I really hate needles, so I decided to get it done in one sitting, about 5+ hours worth. My arm felt like hamburger by the time it was done!

Eventually I plan to get it touched up, including a mini-demon & angel encircling the gap on the lower wrist, wrestling each other...symbolic of the struggle between good & evil.
Anyhow, that's the tattoo in a nutshell.

For whatever reason, trying to understand why anyone would want a tattoo is like trying to get our Scottish Terrier to understand differential calculus.
