Ive always wondered why white hose was sort of a no no in the kilt world. Would someone be so kind to clear that up for me?
It's not that they are per-se a no go, it's that white hose are ALL you see from rental houses. PC's during the day or evening with ghillie brogues and white hose is the standard issue rental outfit. This has given them a bad name in some corners.
There are many colours of hose that go with nearly any tartan which are much more flattering (lovat blue, for example).
There ARE some off-white hose which are quite splendid. Several members here have nicely knit, very chunky hose in off white done in an Aran Sweater-style.

So it kind of gives off the message that kilt itself is a rental?
Meghan, the question you pose is a can of worms and has been debated many times on the forum. If you want to see your computer melt down do a search under "white kilt hose" and put away any thoughts of studying this year, cause you won't have time

I guess I just dont get it. lol. Since I will never have to deal with this issue (unless there is the same stigma against white tights under a tartan skirt please tell me if there is) then I will simply brush it off as "a guy thing"....and will remember not to dress my guy in white hose.
