Today the scarf pays a visit to the Center for Molecular and Genetic Medicine, at Stanford University Medical Center... in the Beckman Center. Why, the scarf might get to experience a hard workout at the Arillaga Gymnasium, too.
Tomorrow, I'll be taking the scarf on a little noontime walking tour of Stanford University before it wings its way onward to its next stop.

This morning I wore the scarf in to work at the Beckman Center, home of the group I work for as a system administrator for the Center for Molecular and Genetic Medicine. The scarf made the rounds this morning, as you will see!
Heading in to work

Yours Truly, otherwise known as Our Hero the System Administrator , tackles a minor administrative issue in the server room.

Being the trained IT professional that he is, this is his calm reaction after discovering that he has eradicated 500 Terabytes of Human Genome Data.

Piffle...a minor detail....
He's off to the microscope facility look after the task of transferring a few hundred gbytes of immunofluorescence microscope imaging data to the central RAID 5 repository. Here, some poor unsuspecting visiting scientist is roped into wearing the scarf.. You can see the pretty picture of the neuronal stem he is investigating in the background.

....
and then off to one of the first floor labs, where Peggy and Katja... oh my GOD!!! STAND BACK! They're about to do science!

From there, I drop by the relatively quiet halls of the PAN facility, where Yen and Dick are busy running samples through the spectrophotometer.

Finally, to round off the morning, I drop by our Emeritus Directors office. This is Paul Berg, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, 1980, wearing the Welsh Rugby Scarf.... It's not every day that the scarf decorates the shoulders of a Nobel Laureate.

WHAT a morning! It's off to the gym, and more pictures of your friend and the visiting scarf, in action at Stanford!

Cripes, Alan...I'm going to have to drive all the way over to the University Of Chicago to find a few more Nobel Laureates!
