I'm not a staunch traditionalist by any means, but I'd say it looks like a good combo all the way around. I really dig the tweed. Very sharp.

I wouldn't sweat the shoe/sporran combo. Prince Charles mixes black and brown all the time.

Re: Oh! My turn! How'd I do?

I personally don't like to mix leathers brown and black but there is nothing wrong with it IMHO for typical daywear with tweed as you are attired. I do like the sporran a lot--looks like it came out really well. Otherwise I think you have put together a nice ensemble--especially like the tweed Braemar jacket and waistcoat. I only have one comment and many would consider it a nitpick or simply personal preference----your bonnet is cocked to the left while most non-french wearers of the various styles of headgear based on the beret/balmoral typically (by all means not absolutely) cock it to the right. On a typical balmoral that would place the cockade over the left front temple, a military style beret would place the patch above the left eye except for the french, who wear it the other way with the patch above the right eye (to quote Dr Suess "I don't know why?"). On other highland bonnets or berets or tams without the cockade or tails/ribbons it doesn't really matter, and other recent threads have shown the highland bonnet (Ryan Ross style) in particular worn in a variety of styles---pulled to left, to right, forward, and just about everything in between.

    Well done you.

The jacket and waistcoat look tailor-made for you. The whole outfit looks good to me.

You did very well. Thanks for posting. I enjoyed the thread on your sporran -making adventure. It IS good to be a participant and not just a consumer, isn't it?

I am betting you have several other shirts in your closet or drawer that will also look good- a light blue or a small check would go well with everything else you have on. There is no arguing with a crisp white shirt, but I think softer looks will also do nicely with that great looking tweed.

Just the right smile will make people think you are up to something. The worst thing that can happen when you smile too much is that it will make them underestimate you.
