Re: Another kilted + wedding thread
You could try a Tux shirt, Puffy ascot and a short tux jacket.. Very Victorian looking. and fairly comfortable.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "short tux jacket." I'm afraid I won't like the answer, either.

Well here is a visual example of your proposed tartan paired with a matching tartan 5 button waistcoat, Black Argyll jacket, bow tie, and custom hunting style sporran made by Wyvern Leatherworks (link at bottom of this page)

I think any of the hose choices you provided would be fine, except for the black, which I am not a big fan of. I have a pair of the House of Cheviot Hunting Scot full argyle hose and think they are a great pairing for this tartan if you are considering that option. Mine came from Dunadd Trading company (also link at the bottom of this page)
Congratulations to mom! and best of luck in your search.

Sandy, for some reason that made my day.
For the OP... seeing as this is an afternoon wedding, I strongly suggest a black argyle and 3-button vest as mentioned by piperdh. If there are certain "accent colors" for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, then a tie and flashes to match that.
The PC is nice and all, and yes, tux appropriate... but I just cannot visualize it in a daytime setting. It just doesn't sound or feel appropriate.

Re: Another kilted + wedding thread
I appreciate all of feedback everyone has given.
It looks like the groom will be wearing a tux and the groomsmen will be in suits, so the Argyll sounds like the way to go. I'll need to wait and see what they are doing for accent colors and make some choices at that time. I may be back with more questions. :-)
As for the suggestions regarding the sporran makers here on the site, I'll follow-up with each with the details of what I am looking for.
Thanks again! Pictures to follow....in a "few" months.
