    horrible rentals!

So as some of you may know i am having a kilted wedding in June (just a little over 30 days away now!) and it is not mandatory that all men wear kilts but it is highly encouraged. so last night my friend told me that he was looking into a kilt rental place, I was overly joyed that there was some one else looking into wearing a kilt, i asked him wear he was going to rent from and he gave me this link... well i nearly fainted!! and i quickly told him to look else where as those are skirts not kilts. reading the desriptions of some had me close to tears... "Blue and grey plaid kilt that reaches roughly knee level. The kilt is made of wool and has a tartan pattern print. The front has overlapping layers, with one layer through the rest of the garment, and there are pleats throughout."

I gave him many other sites of where could rent a real kilt from for much of the same price, or possibly even buy one for that price as well. I am jsut glad that he talked to me first before going ahead as he planned. And since he is in the Air Force i told him there is an AF tartan and that he should look into that. so thankfully crisis averted!

Well done! You are a good friend. Personally, I probably would have allowed him to rent the skirt, and laughed at him - but I'm not always a nice person.

Good catch. I would advise him to steer clear of any rental outfit with the name 'costume' in its title.

Yes, the word COSTUME is an alert that they are not offering a REAL kilt for rent. RUN AWAY from that site real fast.

Wow , 30 days isn't very much time . He should probably focus on a rental from one of the sites you gave him and pick a tartan that is suitable to both of you . He will not only need the kilt for the wedding but also the jacket , hose and sporran . He can probably improvise on the shirt , tie and shoes .

Best of luck and best wishes .

no not really a ton of time, but its doable. as for the shirt and tie, he will be wearing his airforce jacket dress uniform. and yes he is now looking to a REAL kilt rental place!

I'm assuming that's US Air Force. If so, do you mean his mess dress jacket? Will it have all the AF acoutrements -- shoulder boards, medals, etc.? If he's in the USAF, just be aware of AF uniform rules/regulations, especially if there will be other USAF persons in attendance. Some of them might take exception to the wear of a uniform item (mess dress jacket) in an unapproved manner.

I know this from experience. I was called out one time for wearing my BDU jacket because I still had the U.S. Air Force tape over the left pocket. I had removed my captain's bars and various AF patches, but overlooked that last item.

    Caveat!
