I thought Jack McConnell looked quite relaxed in his pinstripe kilt with scrunched down hose.
Alex Salmond's tartan trews were rather garish, even though complemented by the matching tie, and tartan trews are not my style, but one must bear in mind that tartan trews are very popular in the south of Scotland and are worn by some of our lowland clan chiefs at ceremonies in preference to the kilt. I believe that it would be great for Scotland's image if Alex Salmond would wear the kilt more often but I guess it is for him to choose to wear what he feels comfortable with.
I think I will have wait a few more weeks before Brave reaches our local cinema here in Hawick.
Looking at the pic, Alec, yes McConnell looked relaxed but I still think that he looked ridiculous and was a terrible advert for the kilt

In my book, tartan always trumps Sassenach materials – even if, in this instance, it is a matter of tartan trousers versus something alleged to be a kilt.
