    Hello.,
I'm thinking about sew a normal red sock to the bottom of the tartan hose I saw you.. in order to make a one piece hose.Does anybody have some exeperience about??could be match??

    thanks
I have a pair of those. I think it could work - with time and patience. And advice from an elderly female relative who knows about sewing and knitting.

The problem, I think, is finding the right colour socks. The bottom of the hose tops is not red, it is what is called a marl. That is to say it is a mixture of the red and black together. You can only see it close up. More than a metre and it looks like one colour.

If you can get the socks - it will work.

    Regards

    Chas

Yes those things are called "hose tops" and they're worn with spats only. That particular pair are red & black "diced" hose tops.

Without spats, your options are full diced or tartan hose, self-coloured (solid coloured or plain) hose, or self-coloured hose with a tartan or other pattern turnover cuff.

Anyhow here are hose tops, red & black diced and red & white diced

here are red & white diced full hose

here are red & green diced full hose

here the three gents on the right are wearing tartan full hose

Scoll down on this page to see quite a few tartan-top, patterned-top, and tartan hose
