Actually, Gary, I think she won the Heptathlon, not just the 800m. The 800 just happened to be the last event.

Not wishing to take anything away from competitors from elsewhere in the world, but I hope I will be forgiven for mentioning the UK's 6 golds-----three in one hour----- yesterday. Super Saturday? Oh yes!

The UK third in the medal table? Much better than Eurovision then!

UK has nine medals in rowing alone. Four gold two silver and three bronze.

Jock, I heartily congratulate team GB's showing at these Olympic Games. Unfortunately Australia's form is the same as those in the last Ashes series.

There is, as they say, "always another day" and I have no doubts that you chaps will bounce back, one of these days. In the meantime------.

It's makes for great TV. The problem being watching it on French TV with French announcers who have the habit of calling the team competing under the Union Flag "England" or "the English". It gets me mad. I mean, it's not hard to understand that it's team GB and not team England or team UK or some other such title. On an aside, I'll bet that Andy Murray had never been more British than when he won his gold medal. It seems that, for the English journalists, he's British when he wins and Scottish when he loses!

I couldn't agree more, though in fairness to the announcers they are correct that the vast majority of the so-called "TeamGB" are in fact English.
From my perspective as a Scot, there is no Scotland team taking part so the olympics are of no interest to me, other than the fact that as a taxpayer I have had to contribute towards them.

I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention. Olympics on in the background and when I hear something that catches my interest, I tune in. Sometimes too late apparently

A Scot takes gold in tennis. How about that Murray?
