I just found out I am NOT going to the Commandant's Marine Corps Birthday Ball this year. My company has a large contract with the Corps, and my boss thought he could fit me in the group going. Ihave not connection with the contract, and he couldn't make it work. Oh well. Steve I would still love to be able to wear a new Dress Blue Tartan Kilt to the Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion Ball this year.

I would like to thank everyone for their comments and suggestions while I was introducing this Tartan.
As you know the fabric was initially woven as a minimum yardage run in 16oz from Marton Mills. Almost all of that run are spoken for. In addition to my own, more kilts and some accessories are in the works.
I will be placing another order in the next day or two hoping to beat a Marton Mills price increase. If you would like some yardage or a kilt please speak up. I will try to keep 16oz kilt fabric in stock and hopefully in the future some 10oz for ties and accessories.
The process of getting this Tartan registered proved to be much harder than any other Tartan I have designed. Now that the design is registered and protected I can make it available to the world.
Again, thank you. To my fellow Marines, enjoy and - Semper Fi.

I'd be interested in 6 yards.
Where are you registering it?

Khan,
The Tartan is fully registered with both the Scottish Tartans Authority and the Scottish Register of Tartan. Please see the listing under 'Dress Blue' tartan.
Please see your PM's for details of ordering fabric.

Steve, to my mind, nothing says "Marine" quite like the dress blues uniform, and you have truly captured the essence of that uniform in your design of this tartan. The kilt looks fantastic! Two of my brothers were Marines and this might just get them into a kilt. All in all, outstanding!

Excellent. A well made kilt in a well designed and thought out tartan, but to shout "marine" a little louder, Steve, don't you think that you're missing a lick of polish on them there shoes ?

I happen to know that Steve served as an "airwing" Marine, as was I. In our working uniforms, at least in my day, regulations forbade the use of shoe polish on our work shoes, since shoe polish which came into contact with even a little spilled LOX, liquid oxygen for the pilot's breathing systems, could burst into flame.
I'm sure that's why Steve didn't polish those shoes, and for a formal occasion, his spit shine would be blinding!

Maybe so, but isn't this tartan supposed to "represent" the "Dress Blues", when a lick of polish would be "de riguer" ?
