Downunder: The Mojo leathers are lovely. I'm caught between going with a belt like the one you are sporting or a more traditional belt like Tobus'. Mojo makes a very nice product.
Brewerpaul, very fine ideas there, too. I think that I'm looking for a wider belt. I sure like those by buckles.
Tobus: Yes it's a bit of a conundrum for me. I wonder where you sourced your belt and buckle?
At this point I'm trying to go with a belt and waist plate. But to be honest a lot of buckles are quite garish for me. Going with something like Mojo's belt with the stainless steel buckle is also a great contender.
Not sure what to do, yet.

The belt and buckle were a gift from my wife. She made the belt herself (including the custom tooling). As for the buckle, she cannot remember where she purchased it. But I'm pretty sure it was made by Heritage of Scotland (and it bears a "made in Scotland" stamp on the back). I don't see that exact buckle on their site, but they have one that's very similar. It just has a thistle motif in the center portion. You can get it in antique or chrome finish.

I hear ya. I really like the style of belt/buckle that is shown above by Mojo Leather. I've seen other vendors selling similar ones too. And a lot of guys wear that type belt when out-and-about at Highland Games and such. I am considering one like that myself, with brown leather and a brass buckle.

I too am a big fan of the Sam Browne buckle for kilt belts. I don't frequently wear a belt, but if I do it's usually a Sam Browne.
I make quite a few belts with them.

So Artificer and Tobus, do you think a black belt and Sam Brown buckle would be OK with an Argyle (I kinda think not but... maybe)? Better for day, I think. And Rondo, very nice... very nice indeed.
I'm going to look up the waist plate link, Tobus.
Honestly I'm not a great wearer of the belt. But there are times I think it helps with the transition between the kilt and shirt. I'm mostly a waistcoat guy. Right now, if you were to ask me, I'd say I really don't know where this is going to go. Sam Brown'ish or traditional kilt belt designed for wait plate.
What are others doing?
I've also seen some nice round buckles with various celtic designs. Does the rabble think they would do day OK?
Great help you folks are. Thank you.

i have but do not wear a shiny plate and belt. instead, i have been wearing a police duty belt: http://www.officerstore.com/store/pr...rer_duty_belt/
but recognizing that it is time to upgrade some of my kit past the basics and after been reimbursed for post hurricane clean up, i am awaiting delivery for this: http://www.tartanweb.com/product/322...og-belt-buckle
and this http://www.tartanweb.com/product/316...ssed-kilt-belt (when you get to check out, since there is no vat if shipped to the u.s., the cost is less than that)
i had seen the picture tobus posted (or something similar) before and really liked the embossed belt and pewter buckle, but i liked the celtic dogs buckle a bit more than the antiqued plate.

Hey opositive, is that belt one that attaches via a velcro system or by the small buckle system on the back of the belt? Very nice choice. I'm drawn to the circular buckles for some reason. Prices seem very good, too. Thanks for the heads up.

You might wear a Sam Browne with a tweed Argyll, but, as Tobus mentioned, it would be far too casual for a black Barathea Argyll.
