Same here. Apart from the trouser fringe, I really like the look.
EDIT: It appears the photo may not be very current: I've been looking around on the Ralph Lauren site for that ensemble but can't find it.

Too current perhaps... Is the fall 2012 Ralph Lauren Purple Label collection I believe, saw it in a fall copy of Esquire magazine.

I couldn't find the tartan trousers in their online catalog, but I did find women's trousers in the same tartan (Hunting Stewart, which they call "Green/Yellow/Red") and the price is $1098. So I cannot imagine the men's version being much cheaper!
Since the distinctive feature of these seems to be the fringe, which people don't seem to like too much, may I suggest a pair of made-to-measure tartan trousers from the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop instead?

You'll only spend $210, they are made in Scotland, and you can have Hunting Stewart, or any one of hundred plus other tartans you want!

If theyre made to measure you could get the fringe added couldnt you? Not that I'd want it...
RLPL is expensive for anything however...

Yikes, Matt! I would rather spend my money on a nice set of trews anyway like you recommended.

I concur. I can't see myself shelling out even half of that for a pair of trousers...
Would rather spend the $200~ on trews...

I dunno, I think the fringe is rather interesting. Its something different, makes a bit o' a statement. Plenty of trousers around without fringe. This makes it distinctive with that harkening back to the traditional kilt. It definitely adds an interest element to what otherwise would just be another pair of tartan pants.
