New kilt belt

So I ordered a skiver. My only question is can I use it on a belt more than an inch wide? It's this one: http://www.stecksstore.com/servlet/t...r-Craft/Detail

I'd love to be able to skive the end of my 3" belts!

I have had good luck skiving belts with a very sharp wood plane. Problem with the narrower skivers is it's hard to get a uniform thickness and I've ruined more than one belt when teh skiver slipped at the edge.
