You may be interested to know that Aberchalder is situated on the very Eastern end and Southern side of Loch Oich(between Loch Ness and Loch Lochy) , in the Great Glen. At the other end of Loch Oich(Western end and Northern side) lies Invergarry which was a major stronghold of the MacDonalds(in the assorted spellings) based at Glengarry Castle which was burnt down in 1746.There is a hotel there these days situated in the "Big House" that was built there sometime later in more peaceful times.
