My first appearance in first kilt; was on my way to a family picnic at a state park. Sandals and a GI boonie hat completed the outfit. Belt and sporran were crafted by myself. Remarks ranged from "my attire was very nice" (from a Scottish stranger), to "what kind of getup is that" (from one of my brothers), to "what does a Scot wear under his kilt" (from a lady cousin)? There was much explaining where the kilt fit into the family tree.
I was pleasantly surprised how well the 15oz. wool shed wrinkles, considering how much time I spent sitting in the car and at the picnic.
From what we can see in the photo, you're looking good, but then you had to go and spoil it all by saying that you wore sandals. Sandals alone are OK. Socks with anything but sandals are OK. Sandals AND socks is a big no no.
