Well, it sounds (from your group's website) as if your reenactments are done in good humor for the joy of those in attendance, rather than in an effort to achieve absolute historical accuracy, so it's not an issue that kilts weren't worn until well after the period of heavily armored knights. As a former SCA member (back when I was younger, thinner, and thought that getting bashed in the head with a rattan waster was fun), I applaud your work.
If you'd like a kilt that reflects the earliest documented style of tailored kilts, with high quality and excellent customer service, you might consider having Matt Newsome do a box pleated kilt for you. Matt's a forum member, but if you're not familiar with his work, you can see examples at www.newhousehighland.com .

The kilt is for non-reenactment purposes. See this thread for more info. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...designs-79564/ Our accuracy is dependent on our venue. For the Educational circuit we step up the accuracy, but sometimes we are called upon just to provide a good time. (I'm sort of the period Nazi of the troop )
Oh, and Stan, I am pitching in with the rest of the group for the hunting, but I'm wanting to wear one of the Order's tartans for the modern formal kick off that I'm to be honored at this upcoming February. BTW, I like some of your color suggestions. I have a pair of black flashes that don't see any use, but I'm not sure on the color of hose they would work best with.
