I have some shiny steel ones - about 18 inches long if I remember right. I used them at the four corners of a dome tent and got laughed at by the family who were sleeping in their car next morning.

Oh, yeah….been there, done that…I've gotten up after late night thunderstorms to find that mine is the only tent left standing. Loved the one time I got to watch some guy try to retrieve his tent from where it was floating in the middle of a lake.
