Under Armour with my Kilts...Who'd have ever thunk it?

So this summer, planning for the raft trip down the Grand Canyon I knew I'd be with about 2 dozen teenagers, most female. Went to my local sporting goods store to see if they had any quick dry black underwear. Knew I'd need underwear with my kilt on the river to be safe in the whitewater and mounting and dismounting the raft. Salesman recommended a pair of Under Armor compression heat gear shorts. I wore them with my kilt on the river and had no problems with "wet butt itch" or accidental exposure.

I found I kinda liked them. Of course I prefer underkilts and FREEDOM....but sometimes its best to be cautious. I found I really liked the feel of these undershorts and when I needed to wear underwear with my kilt I'd choose them over my boxers or jockeys. They're 84% polyester and 16% something called elastane...which must be the stretchy part.

What I like about them is I don't feel "bunched up and contained" when I'm wearing them...they are long legged so offer good protection for the kilt from my skin. And with other underwear it takes away any fear of accidental exposure - especially if children are about and they are a solid defense against false accusations of exposure since the black fabric goes so far down the leg anyone "peeking" would see black rather than flesh and not confuse thigh meat for something else.

Was wearing them with my Arizona tartan kilt today out on the reservation and realized how comfortable they are. When I got back to town went to the sporting goods store and bought two more pair. Wanted three more, but they only had two pair in my size. So now I have three pair for trips where underwear would be needed.

Course, I'm guessing most of the rabble is way ahead of me and I'm just discovering these wonderful undershorts.

I often wear black or camo under armor under my kilt. When I wear the camo, there's the added benefit of telling people that I'm "going commando".

I doubt kilties ever came up on Under Armour's marketing radar....let alone aging kilties like me. But hey, they work.

Under Armour is really nice stuff. Ditto on compression wear. I think it can be a little off-putting because it seems like it'll be tight and constricting but it's really comfortable to wear. It's like boxer briefs, only better. Now if UA would just make them in tartan!

Actually I am way behind you. And, by coincidence, I was told about it just last night. I had dinner with the director of affiliate marketing for UnderArmour and she told me I need to get with the program.

It is unseasonably cold here in the Mid-Atlantic and she was wearing a jacket/winter coat that was no thicker than the sweater the I had "under" my leather jacket. They obviously do have some great gear and I do need to get with the program. I will likely try those shorts you mentioned and am almost certain to get one of those super-insulated jackets. (I may even get one comped if I agree to do a review on one of our sites. I'll be talking with her again after the Thanksgiving holiday. Crossing fingers-now...)
