Most definately!
-
Most likely.
-
Perhaps. I'd have to see them...on someone else.
-
Meh...probably not. They'd be okay for YOU but not for ME.
-
Certainly not! It's just not done, old boy!

For the record, I, the OP, would not wear them, either.
Your reactions are hilarious, too.

I can actually imagine Lord Killwillie in his own spinoff trying to survive in suburban America for an episode and sporting a pair to "blend in" and all manner of comedic mishap.
Pure comedy is the spirit of this thread.

If a pair of tartan shorts ever actually landed on my doorstep I'd put them on, take a selfie, and post it here.
Ya gotta find me first, though!

I am a solid colour man myself. Apart from a pair of trews and pin-striped trousers (as part of a suit), all my leg coverings are either kilts or solid colours.
It is like golf clothing or Hawaiian shirts and the like. In their own setting - fine. Take them out of their setting and I find that I can't take the wearer seriously.

I'd wear just about any garment in my tartan. I bet I could make tartan cargo shorts work in an outfit. I have three styles of shirt that I regularly wear.
I'm kind of off cargo shorts though. They are a little bit done. If I was going to wear tartan shorts, I'd probably prefer a more streamlined style.

Hmm, skin tight tartan shorts. Maybe cut on the bias for stretch, sort of like a cut-off version of traditional trews?
Now that I'd like to see!

Yikes! I should have specified any style of garment that I would wear, I would probably wear in tartan in the right context. These skin tight shortrews you speak of...nobody needs to see that!
Still...I might consider them as an alternative to Regimental preferences should modestly be a concern.
