What's Your Reason for Wearing a Kilt?

Steve's recent post got me thinking- why do XMarkers wear kilts? So, what's your reason for wearing a kilt?

Do you wear a kilt as part of a uniform?

Do you wear a kilt to make a non-conformist statement?

Do you wear a kilt as daily street wear?

Do you wear a kilt because of the kilt's connection to the culture of Highland Scotland?

    Other?

Part of a uniform. I'm a piper, and thus wear the kilt.

Working on wearing it a bit outside of piping, though...

There should be an "all of the above". I chose "some other reason", b/c I wear it every day, partly b/c I like to and partly b/c it's a uniform for my company.

I set up the poll so that you can vote for more than one choice for just this very reason!

Oops... I should have read the directions. Yup. I don't follow directions well (and never have).

Should have been a 'because I can' option. LOL.
I wear mine out of pride in my heritage, plus because I like wearing it.

Hey, I just realized that I messed up and selected "some other reason" rather than "because of the connection to the Highlands of Scotland", which is why I wear the kilt. Can't seem to change it after the fact. Best laid plans...

I wear Highland Dress because of the kilt's connection to the culture of the Highlands of Scotland. I wear Highland Dress because I am of Scottish Highland descent with strong ties to the Highlands and my Highland Clan. I wear Highland Dress because I feel a pride in my Highland ancestry and genealogy. I wear Highland Dress because I choose to honour my family, my kith, my kin and clan. I wear Highland Dress because it's who I am.

I fully realise that my reasoning and heartfelt sentiment for wearing Highland Dress may sound a wee bit "overly romantic" to most ears, especially to some on this forum, but frankly, I don't give a damn. They are my reasons and mine alone.
