When these first began to appear they were kinda cute. My wife bought me one of these for my birthday one year.
We never thought or expected it to be real. It was a nice and unique birthday gift. Sort of like having a star named after you. Something to hang on the wall.
I did have plans of looking up my 1 square foot during one of my business trips to Scotland. I thought it would be a fun photo putting one of those David Winter Castles on it, and taking a picture from ground level.
But I found out that some French person was living in my castle and threatened to taunt me a second time if I did not go away.

Oh you English "Ka-nig-its" should know the French are likely backing the ploy. It's good that am from Scottish blood and a bit tight with my funds.

Why don't we buy a fifth of Laphroig and they will give you a square foot out in their back lot and a Google Earth pic to show you where it is. If ever I get to Islay, I'm going to stand on my land, although I will have to curl up my toes to fit into it. The picture should be great. Thanks for the laugh today.

I've long lamented that you can only ever claim ONE square foot. It's a pity, really. Since Laphroaig is my favorite Whisky I've collected any number of the 'Passports' over the years and could probably lay claim to several acres of Islay at this point.
