Norbo,
You do realize that you have just admitted, in writing, to Tax evasion, fraud, filing false documents and about three other crimes. I guess you just lucked out that our two members who are UK customs agents were not on line or may not have seen your post yet.
I guess you will know when they knock on your door.
Mikilt,
Your package is declared as "Being returned to owner after alterations" which is the exact truth. There should be no duty on an item that has already been through customs once.
May I ask - Were you charged duty the first time the kilt was sent to you new? It was declared as "Sale of Goods" and the honest value of my labor was declared. (It was your fabric) Did you keep the paperwork? If not I have copies.
If you are charged any duty at all on this package you are well within your rights to appeal. Just show them where the alteration was done or better yet have them contact me as it is my signature on the customs paperwork. It is my responsibility to properly and honestly fill out the customs declaration.
