As you are asking. Yes, a plain black sporran would be an asset. I do think that the outfits are looking rather anaemic and could do with some colour! Have you a Regimental/Unit tie, by any chance? A red waist coat for evening wear perhaps? Whilst I can understand the custom hose thinking, but grey tones? Well alright if thats what you like, but if were me I think coloured hose would help the overall look no end.

Yes for the purposes of outfit-building that kilt is grey, and I would treat it the same as if it were a kilt of plain selfcoloured grey.

Black/red/grey works great, you see that combination everywhere!

This sort of thing is what my mind's eye saw when I was thinking about a black jacket and red waistcoat with that kilt.

That combination is widely used in fabrics, interior decorating, etc.

Grey can work with a wide variety of colours! So there's virtually no limit to the number of nice outfits which could be put together.

The Guinness marketers like grey and yellow, like this

and grey and blue is widely used

Now why am I posting photos of fashion? For the purposes of colour design it doesn't matter what the subject is. It could be home interiors, or fabrics, or sports teams uniforms, or anything whatever. Colour is colour.

What I wouldn't do myself is to make everything else matching grey, which would be like wearing a grey suit with a grey shirt and grey tie.

The person who has to look at me doesn't like the bright hose, thus the greys.

I like the dusky pink colour, and that may be somewhat acceptable to the one that seams to like me...

I will have to gift away all the other hose now that I have found the comfort with the custom hose.

Ah, I see. That does make things a bit tricky.

Thanks for all the comments; reinforced some of my thoughts, but tricky peace is important.

Glen... given the previous discussion, you maybe should be asking SWMLAY, not us. We may just dig you a deeper hole.

    Cheers...

As Liam correctly observed, we don't know her as well as you do. I'm not sure how you can divert her critical eye to catch the twinkle in your own. Good luck with that part, but being sharply dressed when you approach the issue will help greatly.
