I'll wear a PV kilt with a pocketed or not shirt, plain high wool socks, plain sporran and hiking boots. Much as MacKenzie said (and looks in his first pic, or Steve's black shirt - though I don't have the car accessory) if there were jeans instead of a kilt that would be about it. Flat cap or brimmed or none depending on weather. I'll be dressed similar for the pub this evening and will see if anyone can catch me in a pic. I find the 8yd tank doesn't lend itself very well to being worn in the same manner, even though it can, which is why I got the PV (to not ruin "the good one" according to swmbo. Uh, they're all "good", love). It's about being comfortable rather than seeking a particular style, but then again casually comfortable is a style I surmise.

For that same reason, I've gotten a utility kilt from UTKilts. I can't wear my (new, good) wool one until after a special event in August - then I can do as I please in it.
Because of this, I don't have any pictures of the manner in which I'd be wearing my tartan kilt in a contemporary style; but with respect to the utility kilt, it has simply swapped for all cases where I'd wear cargo shorts.
Therefore, since I can't dress smartly yet, this is the most common form of contemporary kilt style you'd presently find me in, and it reflects a casual preference (worn on a Saturday's work in the yard).

(actually, I lied; it can be dressed up smartly too - change the t-shirt for a white button front shirt, and that's how I sometimes go to work. I just haven't got any photos of that right now)
That said, once I can wear my tartan kilt regularly, I have a rather different style in mind.

I have been waring my kilt almost everyday and I love it, but I have to try the tartan kilt it looks so dressy.
Forgive your enemy but remember the bastard's name.
Kilt up better than pants down.

For everyday wear after work I usually opt for the t-shirt and boots. No tartan yet but working on selecting one, just too many to choose from and I know once I start I will end up buying several.
