There are so many people that do not understand that answer.. Its pretty obvious I think

If they ask if i will be doing "the Little Dance", I tell them "I am not attired for Dancing".

Now for 'police' who say that my "underkiltie".. the lacy sort of half a slip thing is 'not correct', or 'is not traditional'.. I say that the "silk lined number feels better than the inside edge of a button up shirt.." Which it does.

Angry That moment my kilt-wearer had to hold me back....

The last time I was asked the question, the only reason I didn't come back with a completely inappropriate and probably greatly offensive reply is because I do try usually to behave like a civilized person. So0metimes however I think about how fun it would be to just take off the filter and tell the kilt cop what I am really thinking.
As the wife of a kilt wearer, I'm often amused by the "what's under" question. Good grief, people, decorum? All the same, I generally just smile and reply, "Shoes and socks, of course."
Recently, while we were on vacation and walking back to our lodge after dinner, some woman who was getting out of her car shouts, "Hey!! Do you wear panties under that thing?!"
"Panties? PANTIES?!?!?! You have the nerve to ask my husband if he wears "PANTIES" under his kilt?!" I seriously wanted to rip her head off. Blame it on the fine micro-brew beer we had with dinner, but I was fit to be tied. My ever so calm and gallant husband wrapped his arm around me and pulled me back towards the direction of our cabin and whispered, "Honey, she just doesn't have a clue, leave it alone." Fine... but it didn't stop me from fuming for quite some time!!

Lol! Getting waaaay off-topic here.... But my wife would probably react similarly. That said, my own tack recently has involved the "Honi soit qui mal y pense" approach, combined with a little bit of schadenfreude derived from the resulting awkwardness...

I would most likely involve answering the person with an absolutely serious, deadpan expression: "Yes. It's a frilly pink thong from Victoria's Secret. I've got a thing for lace. Is there an issue with that?"

OK, I'm going to burn all of your eyes out with this set of pictures. It's all aboribabe's fault.

The adorable, competent and generally wonderful Brittney Boswell from Texas, wears frilly pink/purple/orange bloomers under her kilt when she throws at the Games.

If you ask, or tease her about them, she will gladly express her opinion of your astute comments by showing them to you.

Did I say already that I absolutely ADORE Miss Brittney, aka "Sunshine"?

Now, this is all well and good. But what's frightening is when Pro Highland Games Athletes Kerry Overfelt and Craig Smith...well.... a picture is worth a thousand words.

Yes, thankfully, there were kilts over those things for most of the day.

I love it, Alan! That's fantastic!

The older I get, the more I am convinced that the vast majority of society take themselves (and others) way, way, WAY too seriously! Ain't NONE of us getting out of here alive, so you may as well so what gives you joy while you still can.

You are a smart and enlightened human being, and I remind myself of this advice on a daily basis. Much of the rest of the world would do well to follow suit.

For all of you who haven't joined the Brittney Boswell fan club, I hereby present you a couple more very good reasons to join up.

My friend and training partner, Bethany, hoisting Brittney over her shoulder at the Womens National Team Championships.

    Bloomer shot

She's also a Ren Faire chick. Heh. Ooops, M'Lady.

Anyway, I think you understand. There were kilts in some of these photographs, right? I say DOWN WITH THE KILT POLICE and UP WITH THE BRITTNEY BOSWELL FAN CLUB.
