    Those look nice! If I am not mistaken, isn't the red tartan believed to be the original and the gold/brown tartan a "copy" of the dug aged version? Both are very beautiful tartans!

    Yes, it's an interesting story about how the tartan was pulled out of a bog looking all golden brown, but that they were able to deduce what the original red-based sett looked like.

    Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the help! I am new to kilts, and I wanted one that has a connection to my family history. I'll probably go with something basic from Stillwater kilts for camping/hiking until I can save up for the Ulster tartan.
