Turns out haggis tacos are great! Haggis, shredded Mexican 4 cheese blend, lettuce, tomato and for some, a bit of Cholula. Neeps and tatties came out well also, couldn't resist slipping a bit of each onion and garlic powder. Finished off with Walker's shortbread.

Here's what I looked like, sadly the only one in a kilt. Notice my ever so cool new Balmoral bonnet?

    Slàinte mhath!

    Yep! Nice bonnet!
Btw, are those Cabela's wading socks? I LOVE those socks. I was using the Lacrosse version, but all of a sudden they stopped making them, or at least supplying the websites I use. Well, I'm glad they did, because the Cabela's version is top notch.

Yes they are Cabela's Knee to Toe Wading Socks. They rock.

I also tried he Wittman Textiles t-shirt nightshirt--45" long--to get a little more warmth out of my utility kilt and while it was fine inside (naturally) it didn't seem to do much outside, but then it was about 28* when I was out there.

Nice Balmoral But TACOS, neeps and tatties? I'm not Mexican but I have never encountered a combination of tacos and mash before! Honestly, it sounds offputting but each to their own I suppose

Haggis tacos. They had cheese, tomatoes and lettuce, the neaps and tatties were a side.
And FWIW In the Sterling Castle Canteen I had a haggis pie, in Glasgow I had battered, deep fried (now that's Scottish) haggis croquettes, and in Oban's La Vida Pura Cafe I had a haggis and mozarella panini. . .

I know it was haggis, but in tacos with the traditional accompaniments? Seems a bit strange to me, but then again I do eat raw porridge oats!

In Scotland, and in either Lidl or Aldi stores in the rest of the UK you can also get haggis pakoras (Indian battered meat). I love Indian food so they're on my bucket list!

Btw, if I may be true to my primal comedic instincts, 'Haggis Taco' is a great euphemism...

I was wishing I already had the hostess-length kilt I am gearing up to order in the (hopefully) near future. Considering I'm still recovering from emergency surgery (a little over a week ago), I felt it was a bit too chilly for me to wear the one knee-length kilt skirt I have to go out and about. P'raps I should add some warm tights and/or leggings to my wardrobe so that I will be better prepared next time.

The haggis tacos were great, as were the neeps 'n' tatties. Overall, I'd say it was a splendidly successful St. Andrews Day celebration!

    St Andrew's

Since it's the day, I'll be battering into a fine traditional meal (aforementioned haggis etc) with my family. It also happens to be my birthday, so I'll be making a hole in a few drams, playing a couple tunes on my pipes and enjoying the day.

    Alba gu brath!
