    I am finding the same issue with my utility kilt. I gained weight during my wife's health issue period and the result (for me) is that the under apron corner juts below the front apron as I slip the buckles to the far hole. I expect the kilt was mislabeled for size range rather than the construction. My choices are lose weight or replace the kilt. You may find this is your issue also.

    You are most likely correct. I notice the first pleat tends to stay spread out more. Suspect the back-side grew too.
