It must get confusing for when Australians and Canadians forget their Perth is not the original one. Perth in Ontario is the first capital city of Upper Canada. It is not really a city, but a very pretty town of 6000, right between the Lanark Highlands and the Ottawa Valley. It is the home of the annual Kilt Run, and very well worth leaving UK and Australia to visit. Seeing as 6000 miles is a long way to go for a night out, I will have a drink on your behalf.

To add to the confusion, I have also discovered there are 18 places called Ontario.

I would have said York (now Toronto) was the first capital of Upper Canada but history is not one of my strong suits.
I'm just trying to be the person my dog thinks I am.
