Giving bluid while kilted
So I guess I reached a milestone of sorts yesterday when I donated my 60th unit of platelets.
As it happens, I was kilted on a “snow day” when I didn’t have to travel for work. My neighbor who works at the blood center (a Buchanan by birth and a McKendrick by marriage) presented me with my pin.

Good on ya' laddie. I did over 75 whole blood units before I had to stop.

I started giving whole blood in the Army. I reached my first donated gallon, when my son was born 6 years later. I admire and honor anyone that believes in the "gift of life" that is blood donation. My sincere Thanks.

We had a program at work for once a year, but you could give more if ya want. They use to call me every 56 days like clock work, sadly I’m unable to give anymore for meds reasons. Congratulations, that’s truly giving back to humanity.

I work at a blood center and I want to thank you gentlemen.
Less than 3% of the people who can donate do.
The need is always great.
It's nice to see so many generous people are on this forum.
On a side note I cannot seem to convince HR that kilts can constitute casual on "casual Friday".

When I lived in California I donated whole blood on a regular basis. However, when I moved to Colorado and then to Florida, I began donating plasma. I have been knocking the idea around of wearing my kilt when I go to the plasma center.

It's a lifesaver you are! Used to give several times a year, but with the meds in my system now, they don't want it.

Like you, I get the constant phone calls from the Blood Center.
Lovely Wife used to say “the vampires are calling,” so I changed the photo in my iPhone’s Contacts to an appropriate image that pops up on the screen now.
