Like Geoff, I used to give (I got close to 2 gallons) but the meds I'm now on prevent donation.

    Revdpatience, well done, sir!

    Good on y'all!

Pretty Wife leaned on me to quit after five gallons; it makes me dopey longer than it used to, and she took to worrying about me driving home.

Following a rather nasty accident in '15, I came to appreciate blood donors in a direct, visceral way. The upshot of that experience is that I'm just dang glad to be here -- and glad to be in the company of donors.

    Cheers,

    Jack

P.S. Pin looks good on that tartan.

The blood service in Australia doesn't allow me to donate blood as I lived in the UK for more than six months in the period 1980–1996 and may have been exposed to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (‘mad cow disease’).

I have given blood while wearing a kilt in the past, and received favourable comments from the medical staff, but I don't always wear the kilt to blood donation as in my opinion it is not really the most practical garment for clambering onto, and then lying down on, the donation table.
