I'm guessing you're having the waistcoat made to the bias?

What type of buttons did you order?

Some time ago, I purchased a tartan jacket/waistcoat from USA Kilts. I recently had my tailor remove the buttons and place small holes which would allow for interchangeable buttons (ala McMurdo's beautiful Wildcat tartan kilt suit). Now I have the option of stag horn, leather or silver buttons which will result in more opportunities to wear the jacket/waistcoat in combination or separately.

I found the hardware for the conversion here: https://kiltsandmore.com/search-1-1-...g%20and%20Clip

While both tartan options are handsome, I'm hoping the Lochcarron version will be available.

Looking forward to seeing photos of the finished kilt/waistcoat!

    Cheers,

I am so happy that I went with the cotter pin arrangement on my waistcoat and jacket in the Wildcat Tartan. I have not regretted it at all.

I am planning to have the waistcoat cut on the bias, indeed.

And you and I agree that the ancient tartan is by far the nicer. Since my tweed Argyll is lovat green, the softer greens and blues in the ancient tartan really pop.

However, the modern tartan is a handsome red tartan which will look sharp for both formal and daywear events.

Either way, I am excited to have a second kilt to work with.

always exciting to hear about a new kilt. I just ordered a hiking Anderson kilt. Can't wait to get it on the trails.

    And good news!

Got a call from Rocky himself to say that he had spoken to Lochcarron and confirmed that, although the Ancient MacColl is currently out of stock, they can weave a new run of cloth.

So it’ll take quite a while for the weaving as well as the creation of the kilt, but in the end (or late May, to be more specific) I’ll get the exact tartan I prefer.

I took the opportunity to give kudos to Rocky for the warm welcome I received, too.
