If there's a discussion of particular kilt stores in the US on this board (and there must be), I haven't stumbled on it yet. It seems J Higgins in Kansas City area, and the one in San Francisco called Wm Glen and Son are two of the bigger ones for actual storefront places.

I just learned that Wm Glen and Sons have a shop in Toronto— not terribly far for me! Could be a weekend trip.

Good to know, I didn't know J Higgins was a brick & mortar shop.

I haven't been there myself but this is what one sees on their website.

Yes, indeed. And should you visit there, you’ll be met by Griffin who is a top notch piper, extremely helpful and patient with whatever queries you may have, and always impeccably dressed.

Thanks, good to know.
I will say, about Higgins, is that I've always found the "cut" of their Argyll jackets a bit odd.
If I were to go into business making those I would get a nice traditionally cut one from one of the older respected Scottish tailors (a vintage one from Ebay or what have you) and copy it.
There's something about the Higgins Argylls that strikes me as if they didn't have a pattern to follow, and sort of made it up. The same is true of their military-style doublets, but to a lesser extent.
Then again, most of the modern Argylls made in the UK are also clunkier in style than the nice older Scottish-made ones.
