Really nice sporran in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders style (mostly) by L&M Highland Outfitters (Nova Scotia) for around half what it might cost new.

My concerns are 1) the seller's low feedback number and 2) is it just me, or does the seller's hand make the sporran look small? I used to have one of these, they're big sporrans. (And for me not comfortable to wear.)

I concur. They look like “googly eyes”! 😊 Same as on my raccoon sporran. L&M should try a little harder on the eyes for what they charge!

As far as I know the 93rd Foot (Sutherland Highlanders) badger sporrans have always had eyes like that.

Here's a traditional Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders UK-made sporran made from a British badger.

L&M Highland Outfitters (Nova Scotia) makes them from North American badgers which are rather different.

They've supplied them both to the Canadian and British military. When the Pipes & Drums of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders (Scotland) toured here one of the officers was wearing a North American badger sporran.

You can see that the Ebay sporran is clearly not a regimental sporran both from the plain brass cones (the Argylls have unique cones with serrated edge and upside-down thistles) and the tricolour hair tassels.

    This is strange.

This Etsy seller shows what certainly appears to be a lovely vintage sporran.

But if you look at their other listings you can see they're one of those Pakistani tat firms.

My guess is that they found that photo online somewhere, and that if you make a purchase from that listing you'll receive a modern Pakistani sporran made more or less in that style, but almost certainly not in that lovely leather, or having that quality of construction.

Dunno - looks a lot like a copy of Margaret Morrison's Edinburgh sporran with added tassels. https://morrison-sporrans.co.uk/prod...-wear-sporran/

It certainly could be that the Pakistani shop stole the photo from Margaret Morrison.

I wouldn't expect that high level of stitching to be seen on a Pakistani sporran, which is what that seller sells.

    OC:

I have a similar raccoon sporran from L&M that seems to be about the same size… I think the guy in the photo must just have beefy hands. And the sporran body is definitely longer and stiffer than any of my other sporrans… not the most comfortable to wear for extended periods!
