    The suffix 'ancient' appears in Forsyth's 1907 catalogue but there is refers to instances where there the older tartan and they use the term to differentiate it from the standard one.

    OC's catalogue images are not llowed to be viewed in my region (Huh..? Why?) and the image I tried to post is accepted only as a file, not an image.

    The best part of the page was the statement "Clan Tartans not kept in Stock made in any of above qualities in ten to fourteen days". I doubt you could get weaving to order anywhere near that fast now.
