W.E. Scott Day Sporran: Back from the Precipice?

Richard found this vintage W.E. Scott sporran last week on eBay.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/389772660835

I thought it had potential and I needed another brown sporran anyway, so I bought it.
It arrived yesterday from New York (along with a Statue of Liberty keychain and two dice!).

I cleaned it and then conditioned it. The flap darkened which is acceptable to me.

I think it has come back from the precipice and still retains some of its vintage character.

Photographed late this morning on my deck.

I was curious about that one. Thank you for posting pictures.
The flap, tassels, face, and back all look incredible to me. They appear to have sprung back to life without losing their gorgeous patina.
    Well done!

The only thing I don't love is the edge leather. If it were mine, I'd probably hit that with a brown leather dye and sealant. But then again, I don't know when to leave a thing of beauty alone.

I, on the other hand, tend to go the opposite way, adding patina to a new sporran.

Here's a vintage hallmarked silver hand-chased hinged cantle I sent to Margaret Morrison to have a new body put on.

Left: At MM before posting to the USA. I don't care for the plain new leather.

    Centre: My fake patina.

    Right: After adding bells/cones.

For ageing/weathering leather you can go additive or subractive. For this sporran it's all additive, so over the years, as it gets wear, it will look newer.

Beautiful work as always. Did you do that with leather paint then? I've only worked with leather dye, but your paint work makes me want to try it.
