I have kilts made from Locharron, House of Edgar, DC Dalgleish and Marton Mills fabric. Of those, I think I prefer the Marton Mills tartan, as it has a stain resistant finish, which came in handy when a spectator fell off the bleachers at the Highland games, landing on their backside and bursting the tube of sunscreen in their back pocket. Unfortunately, I was in the "blast zone," and caught the brunt of the airborne sunscreen on the back of my kilt. A lady behind me said, "Don't move," and proceeded to produce a roll of paper towels from her tote. Within a minute or two, all the sunscreen had been removed and my kilt was no worse for the wear. Thank goodness I was wearing a Marton Mills kilt that day!
They have a limited range of tartans, but if yours is one, consider it for a future purchase.
