You're probably still tired from the party or else you wouldn't be trying to judge normalcy by the reaction of a group of people who wear make-up and pretend to be someone else, ha. My mother is, never say "was", a star of stage, screen and radio. I grew up with these kinds of parties. Remember acting ethics: never be surprised, unless it's over something that was no suprise to anybody else; keep a straight face; and, how dare you upstage me by wearing a kilt!
They loved you, dahling, but you know you get after a few drinks and some praise.
