Mostly what I remember from the 70's are polyester leisure suits. Boy am I glad we rediscovered the kilt.

It's funny that you mention "disco era". When I lived through the 70's, I hated disco music with a passion. Now, however, I find that alot of it was pretty decent from a musical standpoint. Far more creative than the crap that's passed off as "dance music" these days.

i was a hippie..
but, worked a real job, took showers..
got girls..
it was a rebel thing.
the blue collar types, short hairs..did the exact same things, but more with booze and cars and what mom let them wear.
BUT that's ok too...thanks to the hippies, we wear what we like...short hair, long hair, beards are everyday..
seen any hippies as of late? yes you have, they drive SUV's, kids play soccer...they have portfolios, and have an LP collection, in the basement..
they now jog, go to starbucks, and highland games...
the die hard hippies make kilts, and sgain dubs for the clan meetings..
the REAL die hard hippies make flint/obsidion knives, and fur sporrans.
the jocks, toss kabers...and big rocks...wear kilts and guinness t shirts.
it all comes together...at the mini brewery..
and none of us ask permission to do any of it..
and do it the way we like..
age blurs the lines. we all listen to 60's rock, or even disco on the way to work, and make faces at the idiots with the boom booms next to us listening to rap...which is NOT music..
straights, hippies, have more in common now than any other age group..we are all the same babyboom crowd, dreaming of one last chance to be a braveheart..
long hair is too hot for me now, blue jeans are too stiff, pot is too expensive, and rainbow tribe meetings interfere with my Steeler games..
i would rather listen to Donna Summers than Britney whomever, and pink floyd, or the moody blues will always fix my labido, better than 55 cent.
god bless those @#$%^ hippies.. even if my old lady HAS to wear a bra now..she lets me hang in a kilt..and doesn't raise an eyebrow, too much..

Ah yes. And along with all the other changes that took place we also were able to stop assuming responsibility for ourselves and what we do (or don't do) and threw the concept of respect out the window. Oh, and we must not forget the elimination of common sense - such silliness. If it feels good, do it. If you feel like saying it, say it. Consequences? Who cares.

But, I guess that is what is called "progress." We may one day be wearing nothing other than a loin cloth, but at least we will have a lap top, a pager, and a cell phone. Hopefully, some will still be wearing kilts. Not much else I suspect, but a kilt for sure. It's nice to march to your own drummer, especially if it happens to be a kilted drummer with a broadsword strapped across his back.
