Panache, what is the solid black Stillwater like? Is the "shadow tartan" visible? I don't like the look of the solid kilts, but already have one in the blackwatch tartan. In the Black, the "Shadow Tartan" only shows up in certain light. In the Green (which is sitting in my wife's closet until X-Mass) the "Shadow Tartan" is very apparent always. I believe the Heavyweights are about 6 yards and 13 oz. wool (not sure but if you email Jerry at sales@stillwater.com he can give you the details.) I haven't seen a SWK Saffron in person. Between the Black and the Green I'd recommend the Green. They have lots of pleats, a nice swish, and they represent a good value.
