Fine. Just fine. I get to the post office and there in my box my copy of your book. And now it's obsolete - there's a second edition just round the corner! Argh!
Tis an elegant looking kilt.

No worries. The 1st edition won´t be obsolete. The only real difference with the 2nd edition will be a chapter on box pleated kilts (written with Matt Newsome), and I'm going to have a bunch extra of just that chapter printed up so that people who own the first book can buy just the box-pleat instructions separately for not much $$ and stick into the back of the first edition.

Thank you Barb!
I for one gratefully appreciate that!
Especially since I'm trying to figure out a box pleat on my own right now.

Started reading it last night. On page 11 you write:
"Men wore a belted plaid (pronounced played) ... which came to be called feileadh mór, ..."
In the next edition, can you include as part of the glossary of terms and stitches the pronunciation (both correct and Anglicized) of these words? I don't know about others but whenever I encounter non-English words in a text, I wish I knew how they were pronounced. This, probably because as I read I hear the words in my head. Not knowing proper pronunciation is a bit of a distraction.

Sure! I'll see what I can do to find someone who really knows so that I get it right.

Page 27, right column, last sentence: "shaper"? Typo or undefined jargon?

Good eyes - should say "sharper" - that's one typo that I didn't catch. There aren't many, but it's impossible to catch them all!!

Thanks, Barb
I too have just ordered a copy of your book (from Matt). I'll need to add the extra pages later.
But when I see the quality of your work in these marvellous pictures, I do wonder if I am just being stupid to even think of making my own. Congratulations!

Whether you make one or not this book is still part of one's education and makes one appreciate the level of detail and craftsmanship that goes into a well-made, traditional kilt.
