If you're talking about a couple of months, I'd wait. Expecially if you are buying a custom tailored kilt for big bucks. The buckles have a good 1" plus-or-minus adjustment, but why take a chance on the hips not fitting as well. If you are losing that much weight, you'll change of lot of measurements in the process.

On the other hand, if you are buying a stock kilt, it might not be such a big deal if you change a little in size. I'd advise going for the smallest size you can manage now since it will loosen up some as you continue to drop the pounds.

And above all else, congratulations on losing all that weight. Your dedication and perseverance speak well of you, and you will benefit in you health for certain.

What about a cheap temporary kilt? If you were here in the US, I'd reccomend a Stillwater economy, as a "transitional" kilt. For the price, they're outstanding (about $50US delivered, I think). I'm sure that people on the Continent can scare up a decent off the peg acrylic kilt. It might not suit you like a handmade wool kilt, but it could get you through the weight losing time, and then give you time to make sure your weight has stabilized before you invest in a custom kilt again.

    Best!

I agree with the Kid on this . I have gone from a 49 to a 42. I have 12 kilts in various sizes. Stillwater has been a great boon to me. Stillwater offers great value for your hardearned money. If you continue your weightloss I would order the next size down and go for it! Yahoo!
