You are correct.
He is also kilted in claymation during the closing credits of that movie. It is the MacGregor tartan.
Does he ever don a kilt in trainspotting? I seem to think he did in a scene, but am not sure.

Cant recall, but I will see if I can figure it out, I might just have to watch that one again, good movie.
