If she was really concerned about tradition she would wear a kilted skirt or anything but a uniquely male garment.
It seems pointless to go out of your way to wear a male garment when there are plenty of female options.
Pipe bands are a completely different issue, so just because women can be in a pipe band is not a valid reason for women wearing a male structured kilt.
If a women wants to wear a man's kilt, so be it. Hopefully she will be forthcoming when people comment about it that she is wearing mens clothes.
