The Pot Still is a really wonderful pub, I agree.
I also quite like The Scotia, too. Good folk music.

This seems like it would be quite good. Give everyone a chance to plan a bit and stay overnight if they need to.

Arlen, its looking good for getting a kilt night of the ground. A fabulous venue would be the Drover's Inn up at Inveranan with its rich Scottish background but unfortunately its too far out especially if you're driving.
Perhaps one of the Scottish theme pubs in the West end of Glasgow e.g. the Park Bar or the Islay.
I would be content to go along with the crowd and enjoy myself in good ambient company. The dates suit me fine.

The Drovers Inn is a fabulous old pub, with kilted barman. On the Sunday we could get the train from Glasgow to Ardlui and walk the 1 mile to the pub, have lunch and train back.

Otherwise any arrangemenmts are fine with me.

Is someone (Arlen ?) going to draw up a simple programme so we all know where to meet up ?

The kilt night is still in its early stages, the idea was only discussed this week but it looks promising, I don't know if Arlen will be the organiser or not, but he is keen to get it off the ground and we are starting to get a few interested parties. I hope it will be a success ,as it should be a good night.

Talking about the Drover's Inn, I was up there a few weeks ago it still is the same busy pub, still dirty and crowded. I remember a few years ago talking to the then owner Duncan about a recent Taggart episode that had been filmed there starring the late great Mark McManus. I remarked to Duncan that he must have got the cleaner to clean the place up for the filming, he replied that he had sacked his cleaner for suggesting this. I supose its the dirt that makes it authentic and a Scottish treasure!

O.K. Bit of an update. First, I don't really mind being the one to organise all of this, but I'm open to everyone's input to make this a good night for everyone to remember.

There's been a few suggestions so far.
    In Glasgow itself there is...
The Pot Still Fairly near to the Central train station and a nice atmosphere. I contacted them and they said if we got in early enough on the Saturday we could find ourselves a nice spot in the Mezzazine and have some food and generally congregate for the night.

The Scotia Bar. Again, a good atmosphere and near central. Decent food and good folk acts, but does get pretty crowded.

Similarly there's The Islay which has a great traditional atmosphere and is in the West end, a short bus or train ride from central station.

    The Drover's inn
has also been suggested. If everyone managed to get into Glasgow fairly early on in the day it's just a quick train ride and then about a mile or so walk to the Inn. It's got a great history and I talked to the staff about a possible kilt night there. As it's off season they're not too busy and said we'd get fed easily and find a nice spot for some drinking and fun. There's great views there for any photography buffs and there will be a good musician on the night of the 26th.

    So, who's up for what?
Once we've got a menu, I don't mind doing a bit of planning so we can all meet up and get there.

All these sound good suggestions, Arlen. The Inverarnan Inn would be my first choice, but bear in mind for those who don't drive that the trains to Ardlui are few and far between so would probably need to stay there overnight Saturday night into Sunday. If I was going to Inverarnan I'd need to bring my wife, and hence drive my van. I wouldn't be able to offer anybody a lift unfortunately as there only 2 seats in the van (wife's electric mobility scooter travels in the back.).

That would present a problem. The trains aren't as regular as they were when I used to visit.

Might be something to think about if a lot of us don't drive.
