Scotland Kilt Night - Emphasis Dumfries but not limited to ( see below)
Ladies & gentlepersons (or something like that)
I've finally booked airfare for our trip in June. (Got a real deal on it! )
P1M & Emma, hope you can confirm our original dates. We are good on those.
David & Helen and Alex & Anne, We'd love to see you all. If nothing else we'll be changing trains in Carlisle on our way from Dumfries to Edinburgh and can schedule a lunch or something. That would be 27 June.
Can anyone make it?
Derek & Elaine, we are not going to make it to Wales on this trip. I'm sorry. Unless you can make it up to Ferintosh. We'll be there for about a week. June 20 until June 27 or so.
We'll be in Edinburgh on the end of the trip for four nights and Glasgow for one night at the end of the trip.
Arlen, any takers for a kilt night there?
P1M & Emma, we are REALLY looking forward to our stay at Fernitosh.
I might even drop in at the local Visit Scotland office

But do you want me wandering around the world masquerading as an Ugly Canadian? I'd be giving Canada a bad name. Somehow I think the Canadian embassy would send troops after me.

I'm adding this post for those of you who may be intimidated by the exchange rate between the American or Canadian dollar and the British Pound just now.
Well, I"m well in to the intimidation process too.
However, we've found that if you are careful and book in advance you can still do well in the UK. We are heading out for 12 days in the UK and have still found it comparable to takeing a 7 day cruise.
Our Itenerary:
Fly to Scotland: Check current rates. Check ALL airlines. We got a deal on British Airways but they are usually the most expensive.
South of Scotland: Ferintosh Guest House in Dumfries is an excellent place to use as a "base camp". Check their rates on the website here.
There is an awful lot to see in Southern Scotland.
Edinburgh: Expensive. We got another deal at a hotel called Parliament House at the base of Calton Hill. 120.00 GBP / night (including B'fast). Trust me that is good.
All I have to say is that you CAN do it on a budget. You just have to work at it.
Slainte Mhath!

Tell me about it....$5.00 per pint kept me on a pretty short leash!

I just edited the original post...I didn't mean to exclude anyone; I was just shouting out to folks I know and have met.
We'll be in Dumfries for 7 days, Edinburgh for 4 nights and Glasgow for one.
ANYONE that would like to do a kilt night speak up. I'm always up for meeting new folk and discussing kilts and life and fun stuff. I drink but you don't have to at all.
Any takers?

Hi Dee,
I am staying at The Ferintosh for one night on June 28th and for one night on July 2nd. These are overnight breaks on my drive from Storrington to Oban and back for Howie Nicholsby's (TFCK) lochside wedding on June 30th. Unfortunately I cannot extend my stay up there due to other committments back here at home.
Our paths might just cross it seems, as both of you leave and I arrive!! I hope so.
